4-Coat Stucco Installation – Senior Living Facility

Bartlett, Illinois

AK Construction Renovation completed a commercial stucco installation for a new Senior Living Facility in Bartlett, Illinois. The project involved newly constructed CMU block walls that required a durable exterior stucco system designed for long-term performance and weather protection.
Our team installed a traditional 4-coat stucco system with a total thickness of approximately 7/8 inch over the masonry substrate. The system included a weather-resistive barrier (Backstop WRB) and proper drainage detailing to protect the building envelope from moisture intrusion.
To increase durability and crack resistance, we installed an additional layer of fiberglass reinforcing mesh within the stucco base coats. This reinforcement helps strengthen the exterior cladding and provides long-term stability for large commercial wall areas.

Project Scope

  • Preparation of new CMU block walls

  • Installation of weather-resistive barrier (WRB Backstop system)

  • Installation of 2" Kingspan continuous insulation

  • Application of 4-coat traditional stucco system (7/8")

  • Additional fiberglass reinforcing mesh layer

  • Professional finish coat for a clean architectural appearance

Project Result

The completed exterior provides a durable, reinforced stucco façade designed to withstand Midwest weather conditions while delivering a clean and modern appearance for the senior living facility.
