ShieldIt Woodpecker-Resistant EIFS Repair – Barrington Hills, Illinois

A&K Construction Renovation completed a ShieldIt woodpecker-resistant EIFS repair project in Barrington Hills, Illinois, restoring and protecting a residential stucco façade that had been damaged by woodpeckers. Homes located in wooded areas such as Barrington Hills often experience repeated bird damage to EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems), which can lead to moisture intrusion and structural deterioration if not repaired properly.

Our team performed a full exterior inspection of the EIFS system to locate all damaged areas and evaluate the condition of the wall assembly. Sections of EIFS that had been compromised by woodpecker holes were carefully removed. The insulation board, base coat, and reinforcing fiberglass mesh were rebuilt to restore the strength and performance of the system.

To provide long-term protection, we installed the ShieldIt woodpecker-resistant coating system, a reinforced base coat designed to increase surface hardness and impact resistance. This system helps prevent future bird damage while maintaining the flexibility and durability required for EIFS cladding.

The final step included applying a color-matched acrylic stucco finish, ensuring the repaired areas blend seamlessly with the existing exterior façade.
